- Tapping screws are thread-forming screws. These screws form their own counter thread when screwed into a prefabricated tapping hole.
- Reference values for selecting the correct tapping-hole diameter are included in DIN 7975.
- Type C with threaded tip, type F without tip and type R with rounded threaded tip
Stainless steel tapping screws are weaker than case-hardening steel tapping screws. This means that these screws cannot form a counter thread in sheet steel. For this reason, they are used in soft materials such as aluminium only.
