- Shoulder screws are often used where screw connections are expected to absorb lateral forces or where the position of the workpieces in relation to one another needs to be safeguarded.
- Shaft with tolerance class f9
The shoulder shank diameter differs from ISO 7379 for the following thread diameters:
- M5 = shank diameter 6 mm
- M10 = shank diameter 12 mm
- M20 = shank diameter 24 mm
Due to the geometry, these screws can only be loaded to a limited extent in the pull-out test according to ISO 898-1 and are marked with a 0 in front of the actual strength class.
The values given here have been calculated on the assumption of optimal conditions and without knowledge of the design context. The dispersion of the assembly tools and the dispersion of the friction coefficient were not explicitly taken into account. In the specific case, it is necessary to check the applicability of the information. This is the responsibility of the person who is responsible for design.
- VDI 2230: Appendix A; assumption of total friction coefficient = 0.12
- VDI 2230: Assumption of torque-controlled tightening; friction coefficient class B; therefore assumption of tightening factor = 2
